About
The Elder Cedar Reserve includes both young and mature forest, including the last remaining stand of old-growth trees on Gabriola. There are wetlands scattered throughout, several small streams, and high biodiversity, including some rare species. Please stay on the trail and refrain from using bikes, horses, or all-terrain vehicles in the reserve - added compaction of the soil can damage the sensitive root structures of old growth trees and erosion along banks of the streambeds, even during the dry season, can damage this watershed.
Gabriola, Mudge and DeCourcy Islands recognize with gratitude that we are living, working and growing on the traditional and unceded territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation.
